Good article. Have heard jones-drew before on the radio and liked listening to his takes.
While it is only one game....still some good points. But more interesting to me is that jones-drew thinks we have a pretty darn good oline. Same oline as in previous years. Kind of goes to our debate here over many threads about who was more responsible for a lackluster ground game...the RB stable or the oline.
It was fun watching him and CT tear the cards d up. Think should be some more good times vs Indy.
Anyone investing in a AP/AD Jersey yet?

AD would have to be here for more than one season before I would consider buying his jersey, and there are other Skins uni's I would buy first.

too early. Not concerned about AP having his normal skill but moreso about injury. That's the other way father time wins the battle.

That's the other way father time wins the battle. ...not just injury but recovery from workload, and looking back at last year shows this as well. Its a great start but far from declaring him a 16 game sensation at 33 years old.

He's a physical freak so I'm not too worried about his age and he seems like the kinda guy that gets better the more you use him.

The games he was used big he was a disappointment the next couple of games etc... until he got inevitably injured. To me the early bye week will help but we are going to have to manage his carries after the bye if we want to get him through a 13 games stretch with no break.

13 games after the bye, that’s a tough stretch for any RB. I wouldn’t limit his touches against Indy or Green Bay, but after that either Perine or Kelley will have to be effective relief.

I bought Michal Jordan's Wizard jersey and love it to this day! This opportunity to buy a Peterson jersey is along those same lines. (I wonder if I can sell off one of the multiple Griffin Jerseys I was sent that I never wore?)

There was an article around his workout for the Skins where he ran the other younger guys into the ground and practically forced our hand to sign him.
It's a big complex equation and you can take 3/4 weeks of training camp off his mileage this year, but I'm concerned that when he gets popped that there's only so many he can take at this age.
I'd let him roll for the next two weeks with a 20 carry workload, but make sure that Kelley and Thompson are in there and giving him a proper breather.
If we're somehow up by 21 pts, close him down.

A buddy called me over to his cube a while ago....had a site selling Jerseys that he wanted to show me. Of course the jersey's in question featured #10 and #8. Real cheap. Probably still have a ton of these now on sale during game day at FEDEX. Look for them this weekend...

Too early. I'm curious to see how he backs up this week after the workload last week. I'm expecting a decent load this week too, given the Colts weakness against the run.

If Redskins fans didn't have waiting for the other shoe to drop, we wouldn't have anything.

You have bantered this repeatedly as if its somehow "fact" PC, but it isn't. RB's get injured all the time, young and old. Citing that somehow Peterson has a higher propensity to be "inevitably injured" is just your personal opinion and nothing more. Peterson had the same YPC average as the other "younger" RB's on that AZ team running behind that OL. Peterson led the team with 31.5% of the rush carries in 2017 for the Cardinals and had a 3.5 YPC average. 27 year old Kerwynn Williams was second on the team with 29% of the rush carries and had a 3.6 YPC average. The team as a whole had issues running the ball, not just Peterson. And since you keep bringing this up, have you ever seen the neck injury that year and how it happened? There is no way ANY RB young or old could have avoided that injury, being hit from behind. And if you haven't seen his leg injury in 2016 I can post the video of that too, but the point is exactly the same. These type of injuries can happen to any RB on any play and age has ZERO to do with it. Everybody faces these realities. Everybody plays good and bad games for a plethora of circumstances. And everybody gets dinged. None of your concerns can be definitively set solely at the feet of Peterson's age. Its just a convenient party-line summation; one that disregards the same constants young RB's face in the NFL each and every play (OL performance; fit and use in the Offense; quality of opponent; sheer luck of injury; etc.) Peterson seems to have a knack for rising above the naysayers. That much is well documented.

Well I saw the leg injury in 2011, and was incredibly surprised by the recovery, but moreso the season he had in 2012. AP is a gifted athlete...beyond most of the NFL athletes. While nothing would really surprise me...still I want to see more of him performing similar to last week. Guess somewhere in my mind I am ready to flinch if that other shoe ever hits the floor...

The rational perspective for sure. At his peak in Minnesota he only managed 2 full seasons and averaged 20 carries per game. I sure would like to see AP carry the ball 25 times a game at 3.7 YPC like he did in Arizona, but thats 400 carries for the season. 20 carries a game is well over 300. Sorry just can't see it. As I;ve said a few times, his reps will need to be managed after the bye in that 13 game stretch with no breaks, if we want him fit and functional at the business end of the season. He's a solid replacement for Guice, and as I've said before an improvement over what we've had over the last 3 years (Morris, Jones, Kelley, Perine).

AP will be a great signing but this Dunbar kid is a real steal in 2015 as a UDFA out of Florida.

We need to pump the breaks a little. Sure, AP is a huge step up from the stuff we’ve had for a couple years, but I think we need to wait on calling him the steal.
He runs hard. Hes better than we had. But, I dont think he is still a *great running back.

I don't know...give him two more games to be sure but i think he will get better as the season goes on. He had about 170 total yards and other than the fumble he played well.

If we got a Frank Gore age 33/34 season out of him we'd be doing well.
Yes Peterson is more talented than Gore, but Gore is significantly more durable having played 16 games in his last 7 NFL seasons.

He had fresh legs against a bad team. Adrian Peterson isn't going to redefine history and defy the laws of nature. He's old, he's been run to pieces, and he's not going to be able to consistently contribute at a high level.
But he's better than Rob Kelley I guess.

Well, kind of hard to tell when pretty much the whole starting O stunk yesterday. AP looked good catching passes out of the backfield....had a couple of runs...some others had a few nice plays....but overall to few plays strung together against a team I still think we should have beat. At home.

The worst thing about yesterday for me isn't the loss, but how we looked. Just like other seasons. Different names at QB, RB, WR, along the Dline…..but same unprepared results. Not as if we looked good, played a tough game, but then lost. We looked out of synch on offense the whole game. Our D at least looked ok....but then gave up the dagger TD late. Not dumb to root for your team, though. But this game left a bad taste in my mouth, for sure. Certainly team did not look ready to win now....
