It's the fourth episode of The Alex Smith Report! Alex talks about the win over the Green Bay Packers, his view on the roughing the passer call, settling into the DMV, and what his plans are for the bye week. Alex also answers your questions in another edition of #QsForTheQB
Interesting, but they talked more about how Alex was adjusting to DC than Football IMHO.
Some takeaways....he is well aware of our loss vs the Aints last season, and the significance of the game next Monday night.
Richardson told LM that he knew AS would throw that long TD pass to him even before the snap. AS did not necessarily agree or disagree when asked if he thought same thing.
When asked about who would win a race between him and VD....AS deferred as being slow. But LM's sidekick has some NFL advanced stats that said on AP's long run, he it 22+ MPH...on one of VD's run's he hit 19+ MPH....and on an AS scramble he hit 18+ MPH. AS said he was motivated to run by who was chasing him....fear based motivation.
On the sack/penalty from Matthews...AS thought that it was a clean hit. He did say that later, after the game and review of the new rule, he could see where that would have been flagged...and that the rule change was based on the injury to Rodgers last season. HE does think that the rule needs some tweaking as he still thought that it was a form tackle from Matthews.
I don’t believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence when it steps on a field and be prepared to play a good game. Tom Landry I make my practices real hard because if a player is a quitter, I want him to quit in practice, not in a game. Bear Bryant
