This link, though moot now that Art has been given his birthright (see my av sig ), does an awesome job pulling together of the compelling reasons Art should have been a first ballot inductee and why the naysayers were political gaming fools. Stat/Chart fan alert.
Sadly, I'm not a season ticket holder, but I was able to attend the MNF game vs. the Broncs when Art broke the all-time mark (Columbus Day night, 1992 - no?).
When I think of the lineage - from Mitchell to Taylor to Jefferson to Monk - the Skins had at wideout, it was just an embarassment of riches during my formative years of fandom for the Skins.
Of those 4, Jefferson and Monk remain my all-time favorite Skins' wideouts. Did you know Roy (my pop's name) played both ways at Utah, and that he was a Defensive End when lining up on Defense? He also was a great return man for the Steelers, I believe, before coming to the Skins.
He wasn't HOF worthy, necessarily, but man did I love Roy Jefferson. And of course Art as well. The Skins need to find their next guy like that in the coming 2011 draft.
