As great as Helu has looked this year, Royster is putting together the best performance by a rookie back.
It just goes to show that you take the best player available on draft day, regardless of position. If we were running the draft, we would have all taken some ILB, OT, or CB that may or may not have been any good. Surely Shanahan had Royster as a 3rd/4th round prospect and could not pass him up in the 6th round.
Some of the best draft day pickups for this team have been ridiculed by us fans following their selection. We will still insist that we know more about these players than the professionals do.
I would not have drafted Fred or Evan. Good thing I'm just a fan, man.
