I keep hearing you say that, but near as I can tell, they HAVE offered market value and then some. When you've offered him close to Matt Ryan money and KC hasn't even accomplished what Matt Ryan has, that sounds like a fair, if not generous offer to me. This is a guy who comes up small when we need him most. I would not offer him one penny more.
It makes me sick to hear Snyder getting involved. He needs to stay out of it. We've offered Cousins plenty. It is Cousins that needs to get realistic if he wants to stay (which I find hard to believe he does want to stay). If Cousins wanted to stay, he'd have signed a deal by now. We should've traded him to some crap team when we had the chance (unless it was for peanuts). See how he'll feel "wanted" then.
Use the cap savings to sign better players and build a team. I've had enough of the selfish greedy overpaid overrated athletes with the bizarre quotes (and Josh Norman is another one who fits that bill)
While everyone was interested to watch Jonathan Allen, I couldn't keep my eyes off college free agent Ondre Pipkins. The former Texas Tech defensive lineman came into camp appearing to be in very good shape. I've seen him listed anywhere from 315 lbs to 330 lbs. I'd say he's closer to the former but is Still very much a load. In one-on-ones, Pipkins created push just about every snap. There was one snap in particular where Pipkins lined up against fellow UDFA Tyler Catalina, who was playing left guard, and just totally put the former Georgia offensive lineman on his back. Tomsula loved the play but had to correct Pipkins because he ran laterally instead of uphill after placing Catalina on his back. Either way, it was an impressive snap. Pipkins continued to shine in team drills where he again created push and pass rush several times. I was impressed with his athleticism. I think people have been quick to label him a nose tackle, which he absolutely can play. However, he has the ability to also create pass rush from the three-technique.
Evans ,like Hodges and Ford, is not ready for NFL , should have stayed in school. I was shocked when they declared for the draft. Hodge if he stayed could have been a mid second round pick and Ford maybe 3rd rounder if stayed in school. I don't believe Evans would have gone any higher than a 4th rounder.
Apparently the Redskins are the front runners in a trade with the Jets for Richardson. I do not know if it means we are in discussions with him regarding his salary, but the word is that the Jets are pushing hard to trade him. Everything is what I picked up on twitter and word of mouth, so take it for what it' worth.
I for one would like to see us make the deal, however, keep in mind Richardson got it in his head that once his rookie contract expires, he wants and expects a king's ransome.
Redskins backed off a deal because Richardson is guarantee $8.1m on the final year of his rookie contract. Its been said that Richardson is not open or flexible to re-negotiate his pact to ease the impact with the team's CAP concerns.
Speaking of ILB's, Steelers had Hightower in for a visit, but he left without signing a contract. However, Steeler gave him an ultimate according to a tweet: Paul Conner Retweeted Mike Loyko @nepd_Loyko 3h3 hours ago
Per @akinkhabwala Steelers told Hightower if he gets on the plane their deal is off the table.
