Play calling has cost us 10 points. Should have kicked the FG earlier and NOT running the ball at the goal line. Just plain stupid. Run the damn ball Jay and McVay. A balanced offense helped us move the ball. They act like we're down 21 points with all the passes. Just plain stupid

Hopkins has to make that kick. He has the power, just put it too high.
Terrible job of play calling AGAIN on that drive. Does Gruden have more than one play in his script for going deep? We absolutely should not be dependent on only DJax to be able to go deep as a team. We went deep to Garcon plenty of times with Shanny as our coach, so the personnel argument won't work for me.
Why is our RZ the exact opposite in terms of effectiveness this year vs last year?
We have the same personnel. We have the same coaches. So what is the disconnect? Our play calling has been terrible here all year, so that could be a huge factor. If this is the case then it is time to REALLY worry about the people calling plays. You are not supposed to drop off a cliff in terms of effectiveness as an OC. The fact that they can't figure out how to make this better concerns me to no end.
People all but crucified me for being concerned about Gruden and McVay as OCs and saying that these kinds of head scratching calls (that are happening in the RZ nearly every trip into it) are the EXACT kinds of calls that will hold this team back in the long run. But this last trip to the RZ showed that very thing.
All I can think is that if Gruden and McVay don't get drastically better in their play calling in this area, they will not be around after next year. Sure, it's great to move the ball like gangbusters between the 20s, but you will never make serious strides if you can't punch it in.
So...is it all play calling or is it a combination of the players not doing their job, too?
27 pass attempts by Kirk in the first half. Will he attempt 60 today? lol.
