That's about as relevant as RGIII winning the ROY. Same season. Neither are the same player they once were.
ROY??? Compared to a SB appearance followed up by another divisional championship game the following season???
No way are Kaep and RG3 the same player. Similar as far as being an gifted athlete at the QB position, but that's it. Everybody can't lead a team to the SB like Kaep did. But ANY QB that got speed and a halfway decent arm would have won the ROY award in THAT offense THAT particular year with us.
If we would have drafted Quincy Carter, Geno Smith, Tim Tebow, Doug Flutie,or Jeff Garcia, each one of those guys would have won ROY in that gimmick read option offense. If we had drafted Mike Vick or Russell Wilson THAT same year, we probably would have went to the SB.
Kaep proved he can play in this league. RG couldn't even start in CLEVELAND out of all places. Griff got cut from the Browns man... Cmon
That 2012 Redskins team was not going to the SB no matter who the QB was. That defense wasn't very good.
I'm just going to focus on what happens on the field not off it.
In the event of an injury, I would take him in a heartbeat--he is a better qb than McCoy(his numbers last year behind a terrible line were not bad) and his mobility would be a plus if Cousins went down. I honestly think the political issues are overblown-- this is the kind of town that would take him in--people get over politics all the time here. But--we don't need him right now--if we lost either Cousins or McCoy--he would be the first one i would call.
