OT: Does Kirk Start to Shed the Choker Label vs da Bears? Dec 29, 2018 15:18:22 GMT -5

I judge Kirk on his play in Minnesota differently than what he did here in D.C. On paper the Vikes are a SB contender. Cousins doesn't have to carry them on offense, just make good decisions and not try to do too much. He also has a defense that can win games by themselves.
Kirk's win/loss record against winning teams is more reflective of the teams he played on in D.C., and not him personally.
That's not the case in Minny.
Losing in D.C. is one thing, losing too many games with the Vikes when you have pro bowlers and All-Pros up and down the roster is unacceptable.
The Vikes are a peaking football team right now and Zimmer and their new offensive coordinator I believe have figured out the formula to maximize Kirk's talents; limit his passes to 30-35 attempts a game, get the TE involved more in the passing game and RUN the football. Don't ask KC to play hero ball and pretend to be Dan Marino.
Let Kirk manage the game and hit a few key big strike passes and he can win big for Minny.
Personally I feel like the Vikes if they make the playoffs can handle anyone they play, with their toughest games potentially against the Rams and Saints.
But at least they know they have the talent to beat all those teams, which must be a good feeling.
I agree that they should ise Kirk as a game manager if hes willing to do so. But, they are peaking by beating Miami and Detroit? And kirk certainly accumlutes a mot of stats in garbage time. Its why hes 2nd in the NFL in passing yards when the game is out of hand.
There defense is good enough to win in the playoffs. The issue with them and the Bears is offense.
LOL. Giles, where did you get that stat from?? Wow, that number is killer.
When I say the Vikes should let Kirk 'manage' the game, I mean don't ask him to complete 20 yard passes to convert 3rd downs, or lead the team on 70 yard drives to win it, consistently.
Let Cousins convert manageable 3rd downs and focus on getting 1st downs per 3 possessions. No more of these regular high difficulty bucket throws into coverage.
If you ask Kirk to do that all game, he's going to let you down, as would most QBs.
Let the man drive the car, not try to see how fast the car can go.
Sure, sometimes Kirk is going to be asked to make a big boy QB play, just don't demand he do it multiple times a game.
If the Vikes coached KC that way, he could be a machine.
Cousins isn't a QB like Luck or Roethlisberger, etc. who can force their will on a game and demand defenses adjust to them. He's just not that guy.
But he's still good enough to get you to the show.
If you let Kirk 'manage' the game with Thielen/Diggs/Rudolph/Cook, their offense would score 4 TDs a game.
